Agreements

Calgary Family Central Law Firm - Area of Practice

Agreements

There are several different domestic contracts that a person can enter into with another person. These domestic contracts are often referred to as agreements, which are legally binding private contracts between two or more parties.  At Family Central Law we specialize in the drafting of these agreements for married spouses and unmarried  partners.

Agreements

    This could entail a couple who has just moved in together, or even after a few years into cohabitating together, where the couple now is looking for an agreement that governs property division if their relationship ended.     Another common example includes partners who are now looking to marry, and are now looking to have an agreement that governs property division if their marriage ended.

    Another commonly entered agreement is that of a separation agreement.  This is when a couple, whether married or unmarried, have ended their relationship and they wish to formalize the division of their property on a final basis.

    Whichever the situation you find yourself in, at Family Central Law we specialize in tailoring these agreements to each client's needs.   The drafting of these agreements entails providing specific legal knowledge where we can structure agreements to best protect a client far beyond agreements drafted by a lay person.

    It is essential that a domestic contract/agreement aligns to the legislative framework that governs the legal issues a client is seeking to address. If not, these agreements are more likely to be challenged, or experience failure in being complied with.   Often clients are unaware of the interaction between different legislation, and how rights under various laws can impact them personally.

    In addition to highly specific legal information and knowledge, we also work to ensure that agreements speak to the specific needs and priorities of clients. As part of our values, we know that each client wants to be heard during the crafting of their agreement, so that they end up with an executed agreement that addresses their matters comprehensively and holistically.

    At Family Central Law we work with clients closely to effectively plan the process of drafting of an agreement.  Agreements come together out of careful planning and actioning of steps with clients that build the foundation of an agreement.   It is this strategic planning that allows clients to feel at the end of the process that they have entered into a well thought out and comprehensive agreement.

    As a summary here are a list of agreements that we regularly draft for clients:

    • Cohabitation Agreements;
    • Prenuptial Agreements;
    • Postnuptial Agreements; and
    • Separation Agreements.

    At Family Central Law we understand you are looking to obtain an agreement that stands the test of time.  One that you can rely upon once you have entered into it.  As such, do not hesitate to speak to a family lawyer with years of experience drafting these specialized agreements by contacting our office for a free consultation by calling our office at 1-866-278-4187, or emailing info@familycentrallaw.com, or by clicking on our consultation page.
