Alison J. Chickloski

A savvy and knowledgeable family law lawyer in Calgary, Alison believes that mediation and negotiation should be the primary method for dispute resolution strategy and that collaboration between the clients and lawyers is a valuable option for coming to an acceptable resolution for the parties involved. She is passionate about finding solutions for her clients both inside and outside the courtroom and works hard to ensure that throughout the process the focus is kept on your family, not who’s right and who’s wrong.

Alison understands divorce and custody disputes can be a very upsetting and a difficult time in your life, and her experience and knowledge in mediation, negotiation, and arbitration helps her to guide her clients through the process and avoid impulsive reactions.

Skilled in a variety of areas of family law, Alison drafts separation, cohabitation and prenuptial agreements providing efficient and effective settlements. Practicing collaborative law, or in times when a resolution cannot be reached through mediation or negotiation, Alison has successfully appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta, the Court of Queen’s Bench, and the Court of Appeal for custody, access, and matrimonial property actions.Alison is also a practicing mediator and arbitrator for matters with or without counsel present. She is also a Dispute Resolution Officer for the Court of Queen’s Bench.

She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Calgary Bar Association, Registered Collaborative Family Lawyers, Alberta Family Mediation Society and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Alberta (ADRIA).

Nicholas J. Van Duyvenbode

Nicholas practices in the areas of family law and wills and estates.  This includes matters for married and unmarried couples, property division, custody, child and spousal support, adoptions, wills, personal directives, enduring power of attorneys, guardianship and trustee applications and estate probate.

Nicholas appreciates 21st century strategies that safeguard clients against unnecessary court appearances and costs. He describes his role as 25% litigator, 25% a researcher, 25% a negotiator and mediator and 25% a life coach. Nicholas believes that clients are best served by being consistently outcome driven so as to ensure the most expedient and cost-effective use of legal representation.

Nicholas is inspired to practice in family and wills and estates where he can help clients move through what is one of the most difficult times in their lives.  This inspires him each day to achieve the goals clients seek and the relief clients receive when their cases are brought expediently to the finish line. It is these practical outcomes for clients that drive Nicholas’ passion for practicing law. Nicholas completed a one-year mediation clinical intensive program and regularly conducts mediations for clients, which has given him a greater value on collaborative approaches to practicing law.

Nicholas is also a firm believer of the efficiency of mediations and settlement meetings that regularly achieve more comprehensive and cost-effective solutions for clients.

Nicholas regularly appears before Alberta’s Provincial Court, and the Court of Queen’s Bench and Court of Appeal, he has several reported decisions and continues to strive for achieving further precedent setting cases. Nicholas also regularly travels outside of Calgary for court appearances in Red Deer, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Medicine Hat and Lethbridge and ensures that delivering legal services can be achieved from all parts of Alberta.

Brad J. P. Webber Calgary LawyerBrad J. P. Webber

An innovative and collaborative thinker, Brad works tirelessly to find solutions for his clients’ needs. Understanding that divorce and custody disputes can be extremely difficult for families, Brad takes a thoughtful approach to assist clients in finding efficient and amicable outcomes.

Brad received his Juris Doctor in 2020 from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law. During his legal studies, Brad became heavily involved with U of C’s Student Legal Assistance, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting low-income individuals in family, criminal, and civil law matters. Brad gained substantial court experience through his representation of family law clients in parenting, child support, and guardianship disputes. He gained further litigation experience by representing clients in a variety of other legal matters such as employment, breach of contract, landlord-tenant disputes, and criminal law matters such as assault, fraud, and impaired driving.

During his final year in law school, Brad was hired as Student Director of Student Legal Assistance. In this role, he demonstrated his ability to be an effective leader by overseeing more than 100 student caseworkers, while continuing to advocate zealously for his clients in Provincial Court.

Inspired by his work at SLA, Brad joined the firm in 2020 to commence his career in family law. As Family Central Law’s articling student, Brad is eager to provide cost-competitive solutions for Family Central Law’s clients.

Kelsey Forbes

A practical and empathetic advocate, Kelsey works closely with her clients to find solutions that will work for their family. Understanding that family law matters can be some of the most challenging issues individuals encounter, Kelsey takes a professional, considerate approach to assist clients in finding effective and amicable outcomes.

Kelsey obtained her Juris Doctor in 2018 from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law, and her Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science in 2014.  While in law school, she volunteered and worked at Student Legal Assistance, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting low-income individuals in family, criminal, and civil law matters. Kelsey acted as Student Director of Student Legal Assistance in her final year of law school. In 2018, Kelsey’s efforts were recognized by the University of Calgary when she was awarded the Gary J. Bigg Memorial Award in Advocacy for her superior oral advocacy skills. She was also awarded the University of Calgary's Access to Justice Award in 2018, for her dedication to providing access to justice to under-served populations. Kelsey remains committed to helping those in her community.

Through her experience as family law counsel, Kelsey has obtained substantial court experience, and has represented family law clients in court in a variety of family law matters. Her experience includes assisting clients with parenting, child support, divorce, child protection, adult-interdependent partner separations, co-habitation agreements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, Emergency Protection Orders and restraining orders, and applications for name and/or gender marking changes.

Kelsey joined Family Central Law in 2020, and is eager to help the team provide cost-competitive solutions for Family Central Law's clients. Kelsey has traveled outside of Calgary for court appearances in other court locations in Alberta, and is available to those who require access to affordable, high quality legal services in remote areas of Alberta.
